Using SOLO for the first time: a few things worth knowing
Unlocking the door, timing and payment all happen on your phone. This piece walks through the flow from registering to letting yourself in, what is in the room, what to bring, and the house rules.
The main difference between SOLO and an ordinary practice room in Macau is that unlocking, timing and payment all happen online, on your phone.
Once you are used to it, it is easy. The first time, there are a few things worth knowing. Here they are, one by one.
From registering to opening the door: three steps
One message on WeChat or WhatsApp is enough. You only need to do this once.
Nobody has to come and open up, and you are not left waiting outside.
What is in the room, and what to bring
A music stand and metronome are already there, so you do not need to bring your own
Sit down and start.
Instruments other than the piano, please bring your own
The room provides the piano. Other instruments come with you — ask us about the arrangements when you get in touch.
Plan customers get a free personal locker, so sheet music and everyday bits can stay here
Sheet music, everyday tools and books can all be left. Please keep backpacks and coats out of the locker.
No food or drink in the rooms; the lounge is there for that
If you are waiting, or want to sit for a while after playing, use the lounge.
Grand rooms, upright rooms, hourly and plans
A Shigeru Kawai SK-6 concert grand and a YAMAHA U1 upright. One hour minimum, with times and prices on a single page.
See which plan suits you →Soundproofed, so late-night practice disturbs nobody; the corridor stays lit 24 hours
With the door shut you may still hear a faint sound from next door, but not enough to get in the way. The same goes the other way — you do not need to check the clock before playing a loud passage.
The Red Market branch is open 24 hours, the corridor is lit all day, and the space is comfortable. Coming in late at night is no different from the daytime.
SOLO is by the Red Market in Macau, one hour minimum, open 24 hours
